Verdun Public Meeting

Verdun Public Meeting

On Tuesday 13 April 2010 I will host a public meeting in Verdun to ensure residents will have their opportunity to better understand the Australian Rail Track Corporation’s plan for the proposed railway duplication in the Adelaide Hills.

Many land owners and residents have contacted me to express their concern over the proposed expansion in the pristine part of the Adelaide Hills. There are many questions that residents want answered and I am pleased that the Australian Rail Track Corporation will attend and answer questions on the issues relating to the proposal.

While I appreciate the Australian Rail Track Corporation’s position in trying to achieve greater efficiency on this route, I am concerned that the area being considered for the proposed duplication will have unforeseen environmental and social consequences.

It is vital that the Australian Rail Track Corporation makes this decision only after full consultation and consideration of these vital issues. The residents of the Adelaide Hills expect no less. The meeting will be held at the Verdun Memorial Hall from 7.00pm and all are welcome.
