Bowen dodges bushfire question - Wednesday 27 October 2010
In Question Time today the Minister for Immigration showed his complete lack of knowledge on the affects of the decision to establish a detention centre at Inverbrackie.
The Minister was asked a question which specifically requested detail on how the safety of the 400 asylum seekers would be assured during catastrophic bushfire conditions and he point blank refused to answer.
This just proves how important it is for a Parl... »

Media Release - Motion to give the community a say - Monday 25 October 2010
Today I have tabled a Notice of Motion in Parliament calling on the Gillard Government to consult with the local community before any further action is taken on the Inverbrackie detention centre.
Residents around Inverbrackie and Woodside in the Adelaide hills have raised legitimate concerns about the detention centre and they have every right to be consulted on the future of their community.

On the 10th of August 2010 the Prime Minister promised South Australians that she would implement in full the Murray Darling Basin Plan when it was released.
She said on Adelaide radio:

Federal Liberals to provide funding for South Coast pool
I am very pleased to announce that an elected Federal Liberal Government will provide $2 million funding to help build a South Coast swimming pool complex.
Since elected in 2008, I have been fighting for investment in key community infrastructure. In this respect I was very pleased to assist the Alexandrina Council in securing federal funding for the Strathalbyn pool upgrade.
A swimming pool has long been in demand and become increasing... »
