Media Release - Heywire: Regional youth have their say - Monday 5 September 2011

The HEYWIRE competition is now open for young people between the age of 16-22 to submit a story about life in Australia outside of the metropolitan cities.

This is a great opportunity for young people to share their stories about life in Mayo and the challenges faced by communities.

Stories can be created in any form of media – text, video, photography or audio. If you are selected as one of the winners of the competition, your story will be featured on ABC Local Radio, ABC National, Triple J and the ABC’s website.

Winners will also receive an all expenses paid trip to participate in the HEYWIRE Youth Issues Forum in Canberra in February 2012. The HEYWIRE Youth Issues Forum is a chance for the participants to develop ideas and proposals for change to benefit their local communities.

I encourage young people in the region to have a go, enter the competition and share their stories about what living in this part of Australia means to you.
