Media Release - Community Action Grants - Tuesday 5 July 2011

I am pleased to announce that local community organisations are now eligible to apply for Community Action Grants of up to $20,000 for local community environmental projects.

The Natural Resource Management Grants are targeted towards established local community based organisations that are successfully delivering projects to support sustainable farming and or to protect and enhance the natural environment.

The grants are intended to support local activities such as tree planting, revegetation, dune rehabilitation and improving sustainable land management practices.

Investment proposals are sought from environmental, land care, coast care and sustainable agricultural community groups for grants of between $5000 and $20,000 to take action.

It is important that we find practical and sustainable solutions to environmental and agricultural challenges and these grants are a great way for communities to deliver real action.

Applications for the 2011 – 12 NRM Community Action Grants will close on Monday 1 August 2011. Further information regarding the grants can be accessed at www.nrm.gov.au or by contacting my electorate office on (08) 8398 5566 or via email at jamie.briggs.mp@aph.gov.au.
