Taxpayers are again being asked to cover the costs of Labor’s failed border protection policies.
After being hit with a $3 billion blow out in Australia’s detention centre network because of changes to our border protection laws, taxpayers will now pick up a $283,000 bill sent by NSW Fire and Rescue to the Gillard Government for extinguishing fires started by rioters at Villawood detention centre in April.
This is a further example of the consequences from Labor’s mismanagement of Australia’s borders.
A $283,000 bill for the riots at Villawood, caused by the Labor Government’s policies, is a further blow to families struggling to pay for cost of living increases. Sadly, there are more bills to come.
Taxpayers are fed up with footing bills to clean up Labor’s failed border protection policies.
Labor has lost control of Australia’s borders. It has lost control of our detention centre network and taxpayers are paying the price.
On her anniversary, Julia Gillard should do something constructive. She should fix this mess; pick up the phone to the President of Nauru, reopen the processing centre on the Island and reintroduce temporary protection visas.
