PENSIONERS SOLAR PANEL DOUBLE CROSS

PENSIONERS SOLAR PANEL DOUBLE CROSS

Pensioners who have invested in solar panels have been double crossed by the Rudd Government.

The Rudd Government has been inducing pensioners with the attraction of significant rebates for installing solar panels. However now they learn that pensioners who sell the excess electricity back to their power company will have their credit or rebate classified as income and have their pensions subsequently docked.

This decision is driven by the desire of the Rudd Government to find budget savings given the billions of dollars wasted on the failed insulation program, school halls and cash splashes.

Already facing tough economic times and with higher electricity prices on the horizon, pensioners have every right to feel double crossed by the Government which doesn’t think through the consequences of their policies.

The announcement is worrying and a sign of worse things to come.
