Volunteer Grants 2009
I am pleased to announce that the 2009 Volunteer Grants round is now open and I encourage non-profit organisations throughout the electorate of Mayo to apply.
Under the initiative, non-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to $5000 to assist with the costs of petrol and to purchase new equipment.
Since 2001, the grants have helped organisations purchase a variety of equipment including first aid kits, gardening equipment, printers and microwaves.
Aimed at providing support to local voluntary organisations, the grant recognises the valuable contribution volunteers make to their communities and assists them with their hard work.
I pay tribute to all volunteers who contribute so much to our local community and I encourage all non-profit organisations that meet the eligibility criteria to apply for the grants.
