RUDD FAILS TO ANSWER RANN
Today in Question Time the Prime Minister indicated that he has not replied to the letter from Premier Rann on the 6th of January pleading for a fair allocation of water for South Australia from the NSW floods.
The absence of an answer to this letter from Premier Rann is further proof that the Rudd Government wants nothing to do with fixing the issue of federal control of the Murray Darling Basin.
The recent floods in Northern NSW have proven that t... »

Patients must come first: Ruthless cuts to cataract surgery
The Coalition has once again sent a strong message to the Rudd Government by disallowing the ruthless cut to the Medicare rebate for cataract surgery in the Senate.
Not only has the Rudd Government capped the Medicare Safety Net, breaking a key 2007 election promise, it also earlier this year announced measures to halve the Medicare rebate that patients can claim for cataract surgery.
Cataract surgery helps restore patient vi... »

Telstra's $2.20 Back Down: A Victory For Common Sense
The decision by Telstra to scrap its $2.20 over-the-counter bill payment fee is a victory for common sense and for the thousands of older Australians who pay their bill over-the-counter.
I raised the issue in the media when the fee was first introduced because many older constituents within my electorate contacted my office to express their outrage.
In fairness to Telstra they have listened to community concerns and have r... »

Faced with severe water shortages, residents on the Point Sturt Penin... »

Time For Point Sturt Water Security
Today along with the Shadow Minister for Water, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP, the Federal Coalition is calling on the Federal Government to step in and fund the water security of the Point Sturt community.
The Point Sturt community has been waiting for the State Government to guarantee their water security for some time however it has failed to act.
