On the Wednesday 12 January, the State Member for Finniss Michael Pengilly MP, the State Shadow Minister for Environment Michelle Lensink MLC and I held a series of community meetings on the Fleurieu Peninsula to discuss the State Marine Parks Draft Sanctuary Zone Proposals.

It was great to attend the Apple and Pear Festival community event in Lenswood on Sunday 27 March 2011. Up until about 1998, the Lenswood community held an annual Apple and Pear festival. Given the pressure that the apple and pear industry is under at the moment, the organising committee decided to revive aspects of the festival. Goolwa Christmas Festival - 12 December 2010
The Goolwa Christmas Festival is another great community event in the Mayo electorate, which I was most pleased to attend with my family this year. The annual event is run in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Hindmarsh Island, the Lions Club of Goolwa and the Port Elliot & Goolwa Inter-Church Council, which demonstrates that the foundations of community remain very strong in Goolwa and surrounding districts. »

The Mount Barker Christmas Pageant is a fantastic community event in Mount Barker and is a testament to the fact that the festive season is among us. Commissioning of new machinery at the South Australian Potato Company - 12 November 2010
A local potato grower company located in Mayo will be the first in Australia to trial infrared digital camera technology at its washing and grading facility in Mt Barker.
The South Australian Potato Company has been granted $78,000 under the Federal Government's Regional Food Producers Innovation and Productivity program.

On Wednesday the 3rd of November, I invited the Leader of the Opposition Tony Abbott, Shadow Immigration Minister Scott Morrison and State Leader of the Opposition Isobel Redmond to tour to the site at Inverbrackie and attend a community morning tea in nearby Woodside.
The meeting gave community members the opportunity to speak directly with Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison about their concerns with the proposed detention facility.
