Funding To Preserve Our Soldiers' Story

Funding To Preserve Our Soldiers' Story

Both the Victor Harbor and Macclesfield RSL Sub-Branches have received Federal Government grants under the "Saluting Their Service" program.
An Australian Government initiative, “Saluting Their Service” honours our soldiers and aims to promote appreciation of their role in shaping our great nation. It reinforces the significance of remembering those who served our country and lost their lives.

The Victor Harbor RSL has received $2,550 to help build a Long Tan Cross at the Victor Harbor War Memorial and $3000 to help compile both written and visual narratives of our local servicemen and women who died during World War I. The narratives will later be available for viewing at the Victor Harbor Sub Branch.
The Macclesfield RSL has received $3,759 to restore the Avenue of Honour at the Macclesfield War Memorial Community Oval Gates.

It’s important we appropriately commemorate all local men and women who served our great nation and we must keep all wartime memorials in the condition that befits those who paid the supreme sacrifice for their country.

I find it particularly poignant that the sub-branches have received this funding at such a memorable time in the veteran calendar and I congratulate them on their successful applications.
