HEARING WITH THE RESERVE BANK GOVERNOR

HEARING WITH THE RESERVE BANK GOVERNOR

Tomorrow the bi-annual hearing with the Reserve Bank Governor will take place at Parliament House in Canberra.

The hearing is a good opportunity to engage with the Reserve Bank Governor about the recent performance of both the Bank and the economy and to flesh out future challenges.

The Bank has recently indicated Australia is facing a period where interest rates are likely to increase thus putting further pressure on families and small business.

With the Rudd Government’s reckless spending and significant increases in strikes under the ‘fair’ work act, monetary policy faces increasing external pressures over the coming months.

This is a very important opportunity for the Parliament to discuss these challenges with the Reserve Bank Governor.

It is important to Australian families and small business that the decisions and actions of the Bank are transparent and the hearing is an excellent opportunity to ensure this is the case.
